Title: Unknown bird in amber (possibly Scandinavian)?
Post by: Alfies Dad on April 10, 2011, 09:18:56 AM
Another piece I've failed to ID, This one has flat polished base, the tail is rounded at the end and does look different to the wedgwood birds, anyone got any clues....I'm having a problem with the base pic, file size too big, when I cropped the pic it still wont upload due to wrong file type..  .

Thanks Robert.

Resave it by doing a "save as" and choose the file type you want jpg or png

Looks a lot like FM Rönneby from Sweden, they are about 7cm in size.

I agree with px,  I thought Ronneby as soon as I saw it.  The shape is almost a signature in itself. Certainly not Wedgwood. It probably had the FM Ronneby sticker......I do wish they had signed all their pieces, it would make life so much easier for us!!   Sigh!

Thanks all,  :hi:  you just made my life easier, i've struggled with the base pic, still cannot work out what to do, I resaved as per Christine's instructions but all it did were change to bitmap (bmp)?? not jpg, I am the worlds dumbest where computer's are concerned..... :smg: Thanks again much appreciated.

Don't take this as a definative identification Robert,  but if you google FM Ronneby Glass Bird and scroll down you will see one in red that has a label.  When you click on it, it takes you to Sportslinkup.  but that is just a link to eBay and it is no longer there.  However, you can see the shape, and with the label on it,  it does strongly suggest yours is FM Ronneby, and if I were buying it, and saw it listed as Wedgwood,  I would buy it as an FM Ronneby......does all that make sense??? :usd:

Don't beat yourself up Robert....Ingela is an expert on Marcolin glass.....we all turn to her when we are unsure, and it is only because I have a few Marcolin pieces, that I recognised yours.......so enjoy your lovely bird.....I have just this minute won one (blue) on eBay,  so we are both happy people!!
