Title: Are these Salviati? ID = Gordiola (Spain)
Post by: emw on April 10, 2011, 06:05:22 PM
Hi-

I recently inherited this set from an aunt. I'm not sure what they are - a wine pitcher & a ____?

The detailing is beautiful, especially on the pitcher - tiny little turqouise 'cherub' faces in the prunts on both sides. Which leads me to believe they might be Salviati? see
http://www.great-glass.co.uk/library/lib4aa.htm           ...especially #6924, 7048, 6905 and 7208.
(c.1960's would make sense for these)

Someone on another board said they were a Catalin design and she thought they were Spanish, but she wasn't sure. I haven't been able to find anything even remotely similar to these in spanish glass...

Thanks In Advance,
Ellen

Hi Ellen and welcome to the board. Here are a few pieces in the Gordiola museum in Mallorca. Catalan was more than just a guess...

Hi Ivo and thanks for your welcome to the board!

Thanks too for your photo - so you agree that the set is probably Spanish?

Yes, from Gordiola, probably late 50s or early 60s.
