Title: Small glass plinth marked made in England and the letter a

Came across this small plinth today at first thought it was Sowerby, until i turned it over now i am at a dead end. Underneath it is very faintly stamped made in England and opposite to this the letter a lower case.
Measurements base 3 1/2", height 1", top 2 1/8" inner diameter. Any info please yours Mark
