Hi all
trying to ID this candelabra, very pretty little thing.
I was thinking its likely to be Heron, Adrian Sankey or something along those lines but cant find another like it to confirm
The glass has a spotty pink iridescent coating (the colour does not run all the way through, its just on the outer part, not painted)
Thhe base is concave with a pontil mark in the centre. The rim of the base is folder over so it sits on the fold
14.5cm tall, 17cm at its widest.
many thanks
michelle

I thought maybe Midsummer glass but I'm not really sure as I haven't seen anything of theirs with a folded foot. That is a beautifully made base :) I've seen very few pieces with a folded rim foot to be honest, so I'm probably best not to comment.

I thought something along that line. Ive had a few midsummer pieces now (being in cambridge they do pop up quite regular) the iridescence is quite different to the other pieces ive had, but then ive mainly had the much heavy style (decoration wise) fruit paperweights
many thanks

Crikey now thats a turn up for the books.. well found Rosie, and thank you very much.
The piece certainly does look very very similar to mine, especially the base even down to the slight ribbing.
Look at the base with just the light from the computer, shows the ribbing on my piece much better and makes the age wear on the outer edge much clearer too.
and Jon picked it up and put it back down saying it looks like rubbish!! ;D
Now fingers crossed i can get some confirmation the ebay piece is correct and then link it to mine.
I may email the seller and ask where they got their info from
many thanks

I looked up mis-spellings for iridescent, and then looked for candlesticks, and when I saw that one, I remembered that Ivo thought it could be Murano, so....hey presto!! Just luck really! Hope you get some good info from the seller. :X:

Any more news on this Michelle???

The pink spots look like an AVeM vase that I have. Makes me wonder if the candleholder might be AVeM.

Venetian i have seen them in several books and at fairs, Salviati or Barovier they are usually sold as ? the design goes back a long way for the double ones , i have an early one somwhere with a real old repair . Love them .James Powell copied them in his Venetian range .

Rosie, unfortunitly the ebay seller didnt get back to me with any info, and I havent had any time over the last couple of weeks to get any work done on this one. So I was still stuck on a positive ID.
But with Anita and JohnPhillip both agreeing appears you where completly in the right direction Rosie
John which books have you seen them in ??, unfortunitly i dont have a great deal of books on Venetian glass yet.
Many thanks to everybody for their help on this one.

This lovely vase seems to have the same delicacy as your candleabra Michelle:

Hi all
ive been doing quite a bit of digging on this, and so far im pretty convinced its Salviati, ive now come accross quite a large number of Salviati pieces with the same base, also the knop appears to be the same too.
I recently got to handle a piece (a large Salviati fish) and again the base was the same and the actual feel was very very similar to my candleholder.
Ive looked into AVEM and havent managed to find anything similar
Barovier ive found a couple of similar bases but nothing style wise thats similar
many thanks
