Is this a case of oops the label fell off the other vase or what?????ebay,250811058386,or?
-
S&W (RB) made those beautiful rainbow shaded vases in a similar optic rib, so it's not beyond the bounds of possibility. The vases I've seen in the Rainbow series have all had more of a trumpet flare to them, whereas this has straight sides, but I'd like to see what Bernard says.
(The vase in question is a tumbler-shaped tall vase with 3 horizontal optic ribs in a quite dark amber colour. The amber looks to me to be too dark to be Whitefriars.)

Should we move this to Glass?
-
Cathy;probably should,it reminds me of an Elis Bergh vase I have
-
So, we have a tumbler vase with a sticker on it which confirms the colour, shape and ribbing that was produced by S&W/RB - why raise the question, let alone move a British glass topic to the general glass section??
Just a naturally sceptical mind Keith? Look at the way the label sits on the vase, does it really look like it 'fell off' another vase. Any damage that I can see on it looks like original wear and not the soaking off of a label and all the problems that that can incur. Good to see a label on a piece of RB for once, I'd say.

Hmmm, Oh look, my entries have dropped to two.....so that's what happens when you have to choose a new password!!!
-
Nigel,it's just not a piece I'd expect from RB but then again I'm still learning, this is the piece I thought it was similar to....
-
Nigel, it's not the reason. You must have two identities on the board. Email me if you want this fixing.
-
Keith, similar to, but yours is a different colour, has a different pitch and, is much thicker walled, also only appears to have two ribs. I actually think it's more attractive. Lots of companies made tumbler vases with optic ribs - Whitefriars, Tiffin in the US.
Nigel, thanks for the confirmation. I thought it was fine, but wanted an expert to confirm it.
As to why the thread is in Glass, it's GMB policy for any ID queries to be moved to the Glass section before moving to the more specific boards after identification.
Mod: - added later: Just to clarify, Keith had started the thread in the Cafe, hence the move to Glass.
