Title: possible Salviati opalescent bowl.
Post by: Paul S. on May 01, 2011, 06:08:35 PM
opalescent rim to the bowl, and gold inclusions within the glass.   I think 'possible' is the operative word, and I really am unsure, but it does have some of the obvious characteristics of pieces known to be by Salviati.    Diameter is something like 135mm at the widest, and with this sort of domed foot, there is little of the glass in contact with whatever supports it, but I can see that there is some reasonable age wear.    What use this may have had I really don't know - other than being purely decorative - so maybe it is 'art glass' Ross.    Grateful for anyone's opinion - also as to age, and as always thanks for looking. :)
