I have had these a little while and cannot find anything out about them. where would the best place to start be??

think I need to get out more often - I've never heard of a 'tea light holder' - but having googled, I now understand they are part of the alfresco life on the patio ;) - I think. But seriously, you may well be correct, of course, but you omit any useful description of size, or base etc., so not sure. The only comment I can think of making is that the 'pulled' up lip might suggest another use, possibly - other than being simply a handle for a 'tea light holder'. There was a peculiarly Irish table ware item in the C18/ C19, called a 'piggin' (the design being taken, apparently, from a wooden dairy vessel composed of short staves, but with one wooden stave remaining longer than the others, to act as a handle) - the design being copied in glass for creams and milks I guess. Obviously, I'm not suggesting that this is a period piece, but it's vaguely possibly that the 'pulled' lip of yours might be acting as a handle, as in the antique 'piggin', to pour some liquid maybe. But I suspect yours really is just a 'tea light holder'. :)

Are there two identical items so you are able to show us top with one and base with the other OR are there two distinct items?
In the latter case you should put one item on one posting and the other on a separate posting. Be sure to show the base clearly - including any signatures as clearly as possible and preferably a shot showing the rim of the top.
The left hand one reminds me of a Holmegaard style (see photo)

HI They are both identical, well as as identical as blown glass can be. They are 9cms high by 7cms round. A dimpled bottom and rough where they have been taken off the rod. Thanks for your help so far.

In that case they are most definitely not going to be Holmegaard or Kastrup. Those companies (now combined) have in my experience always had properly finished bases. However I would guess the inspiration for your pieces came from them - noting the colour as well as the pulled lip. Sorry I can't help further.

They are incredibly like the top of two hyacinth vases I have from Broste Copenhagen. Too similar in colour and shape to be by anyone else IMHO.

I would try the Danish Glass Museum at http://www.glashistoriskselskab.dk/ or Peter Harder's site at http://www.HarderNet.dk both of which are excellent for Danish glass.
