Title: End of day vaseline glass miniature chamber pot of tea cup
Post by: mhgcgolfclub on May 03, 2011, 07:44:35 PM
I think this is an end of day piece .

To me it looks more like a miniture chamber pot made in vaseline glass. I do not think a cup would have the rim around the top.

Height just over 2" / 5cm ,  weight 144 gm, pontil mark to base.

very nice piece Roy  -  do you think far too small for a spitoon?

I never thought about a spitoon but I would say to small

Shape looks like a custard cup to me, although a bit small but that flat rim is very leech pot-like and it's the right size for a leech pot but I've never seen one like it.

wouldn't have thought a custard cup with the rim flared to that extent.

Hi ,
I have a few of these and am pretty sure they are toy potties,as you will see from the pics one has a deposit(glass) which would support that ID .

Cheers ,
                Peter.

They may just be coffee cups - which is what my Holmegaard example (with the cute piggy tail handle) is.

I still think the flared rim would prevent a decent drink  -  there is a substantial difference in rim shape between the u. example and the Holmegaard piece.

Thanks for for your replies.

I still go with the toy novelty potty

I agree, esp having seen Peter's pics, the second one is the clincher.
