Title: Archimede Seguso Lamp base?
Post by: David555 on January 30, 2006, 01:21:34 AM
4.5” high (glass only) 4.4” diameter – twelve lobes – clear glass with controlled bubbles

Original brass fittings and cable – base of lamp (see photo 2) have ground and polished groove for cable to fit under.

Worn labels to both – best shown is red on silver foil with scalloped edge – seem to scan as Archimede Seguso c 1950s 60s
Made In - 'Murano' - Italy

Can anyone confirm that attribution?

I bought these for £20 at weekend – one seems rounder than the other, but I think the fitting is sunk deeper. Front lamp base (photo 1) has a very slight yellow tinge coming from base and top that does not seem like staining, what is it I have cleaned and it still remains?

I am sure this is a pair – not matched up I mean – design and label is exact for both

Yep spot on Seguso late 1950's, quite a lot around at the moment, but a great investment over the next few years.

Thanks for that confirm Paul

I will be storing them away LOL - I already have every light in the house with a 1930s - 60s base or shade, so these can get stored with some others - I will need to do an auction soon as I really am running out of storage space for bulky things with wires and plugs.

Thanks Paul, I also have two of these but in cranberry, cased clear, except one is a ball-shape and the other has the fluting. Also another in purple.
