Hi, Bought 2 vases from a charity shop for £3 each and can't quite decide if they are 60s or are a modern version. They stand 8 & 3/4 inches tall and are 2 & 1/4 inches at the base, they feel good quality and weigh 568 grams. there is some wear to the bases. Any help would be appreciated.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v409/suetorquay/greenvase.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v409/suetorquay/greenvasebase.jpg

looks modern to me, the mechanical open air bubble seems to point at poland...

Hi Sue,
I have a vase with the same base.

I must admit, I thought that mine was Scandinavian, based on the colour?
The quality is excellent and the blue colour matches a Riihimaen piece that I have.

So have I - mine is ruby and comes from Marks and Spencers! We have discussed these at length on the board before - it's one of my pet interests. ;) I also have a clear one labelled Eternalle made, like the ruby one from M&S, in China.
The discussion about the M&S one is here:

Thanks so much for the information and the link Anne. :D :D
I did try to do a search on here, but no matter which key words I used, I ended up with pages and pages of hits.
I did see ths second link you gave, when it was posted, but most of the information is contained in the first one. (I wasn't a member then  )
However, I have again learned something new and now know what to look out for. 8)

There is a similar vase by Aseda but the bubble is smaller.
It's on this site, just enter "Aseda" into the search.

Thanks for the link Tigger. To be honest, I thought mine was Aseda and I had labelled it as such too.
On the other hand, it is hard not to trust Ivo's judgement.
The bubble on mine is quite large, but the vase is too.
If it is Polish, then they had improved when they made mine. The quality surpasses my other Polish piece by far.
P.S. Just noticed that it is a Dutch site. I can no linger decipher between Dutch and English, my brain just seems to take over and adapt.

IMHO Polish glass has improved greatly in recent years, and modern Polish glass cannot be regarded as 'inferior versions' of anything any more!

I couldn't agree with you more Leni. Luckily I always buy pieces I like, as I did this one, and finding out the maker is a challenge I really enjoy.
