Hi all
struggling to correctly ID this pin dish.
I am thinking its likely to be Strathearn, but have been unable to make a match.
Can anybody confirm/deny
Its 8cm in diameter, pinky/purple mottled ground with pretty star centred canes
many thanks
michelle

I think this dish is most likely by John Deacons and possibly from the time when he was making his "St Kilda" range of items.
I have a paperweight with "StK" signature cane which has the same style general canes, a similar coloured ground in "blobs" and having a rough-ground base.
But please note that those general canes were also used at Caithness Glass when they produced weights on commission for Edinburgh Crystal and also later in their own work. Those canes were supplied to Caithness by John Deacons.

Many thanks Kevin. Mr Deacons always seems to throw me off the scent somewhat, I will eventually get the hang of Identifying his work from Strathearn and perthshire.
Rose yes it is a pretty little thing, nice and bright whereas some ive seen can be in some rather more duller colour arrangements
thanks again

Yes, but note that, if my comments above are correct, this bowl or dish was not made when JD was at Strathearn Glass or Perthshire Paperweights, but during the years of his own "J Glass" studio, as that's when he also made the "St Kilda" range.

sorry i didnt word that very well. What i meant is I tend to always leap to Stathearn or perthshire and skip past even thinking about JD altogether.
will have to do more research into JD
many thanks
