Mmmm looks Victorian to me and I can't decide whether it is handpainted or not, looks more transfer?

may well be Victorian - but the stopper looks rather basic and plain. You should be able to 'feel' whether the decoration is transfer or hand enamelled - but must admit it does look like transfer. What is the bottom like - is there a pontil scar/mark, and what is the colour of the glass - is it whitish or a bit greyish? Can you smell any previous contents - a scent will often retain some trace odour of the contents plus some sticky looking bits in corners. I take it this doesn't have a drop stopper - or the remnants of one?

You can tell if it's hand painted or a transfer by looking at it under a lens. A transfer shows dots from the printing method used. There is a third option: a hand-coloured transfer, but that seems unlikely in this case.

decoration does feel slightly raised, I will need to find my small magnifier to look properly. Bottom has what looks like a fake pontil if you know what I mean so I should imagine it's machine made. Colour looks pretty clear and no odours, and no dropper, mmmmmmmmmmmm probs not as old as I thought then :wsh:
