Title: Wide based pressed glass vase - Pale amethyst
Post by: heartofsklo on May 17, 2011, 07:39:52 PM
The vase is extremely pale amethyst. It measures 18cm tall and 16.5cm across top rim.

I think the pale amethyst is the effect of long exposure to UV, aka sun purpling, which causes the manganese decoloriser to turn purple.

Thanks. How interesting, I thought clear glass was normally predisposed to turn yellowy but now I guess that much depends on the actual glass's specific chemistry.
Funnily, it gives a nice shade to the vase.
