Not a clue but it intrigued me. Approx. 8 inches - 20 cms tall and textured on all four sides.

Fair amount of wear to base, but it could well be something recently made!
Appreciate any comments, thanks.

Neither as far as I can tell, but that does not help much. Nice looking vase.

Personally I tend to think of Germany, possiby Hirschberg or WMF, 60s-70s, when I see this sort of style of patterned block vase, in which case any sort of ID will be difficult to confirm unless one turns up with a label (no books to fall back on).
But it could also be Scandinavian or Brittish? There are people who know more about these areas and may throw in their ideas...

I was thinking 70's but as to maker i don't know. I quite like it. Lovely colour and pattern to it. Looks well made to me.

Thanks to all for the comments. I imagine this is (yet) another which may take some years of patient waiting until an ID comes along. Not to worry, I like it and that's all that matters at this stage!

Has some similarities with these Nanny Still designs, I would stick on the Riihimaki route for the moment....

Very dubious attribution, they may well have come from the same glass maker and I bet it isn't Riihimaen Lasi.

I agree with you John..........not to worry, I am quite pleased to have it and am prepared to wait an eternity for an ID LOL!

I've been watching this thread with interest, Emmi.
It's so hard to make my mind up from photographs, and not from handling it - but I have to confess the first thought that entered my head was something from a florist's shop or from TKMaxx,
- but then I got really dubious, because I thought you were not likely to be intrigued by something like that, you're experienced in handling good stuff... :spls:

Well, it is QUITE possible Sue and my first thoughts when I saw it were either that it was something 'exciting" or something from China . But at just 99p, how could I resist it? I like its 70s "look" and the colour and textured design is nice, quality wise it is acceptable, not fantastic but certainly not a rough piece. Having spent an entire morning on the hunt, with nothing else to show for my efforts, it was the most thrilling purchase of the day...........I am easily pleased! :24:

I reckon you could happily use it for something and not fret too much about it.
If it were mine, I might stick dried grassy things/honesty/bullrushes/twiddly stick-y thingies in it.

It reminded me a bit of Fåglaviks Glasbruk (http://www.faglaviksglas.se/ovrigtglas.htm) but I did not spot it there. That site in the link is well worth a nose around if you have not seen it before.

That's a very interesting link John, thanks for showing it. Not a maker I've heard of before.
-
Well I made contact with someone from that site, who confirms it was not made by them, but maybe by another Swedish glassworks. One down, about 500 to go! LOL!
