Title: ID needed red/orange heavy drawn glass basket and bowl- Murano?

Hi
Here are more donations to the hospice here on the IOW. Two matching pieces of heavy , thick rounded drawn? glass. They are a deep red encased in orange/amber glass. The basket is 9.5 ins tall. The bowl with two pinched areas to the rim is 10 ins across at the widest. They both have bubble inclusions. The bases are ground and show some signs of wear. The bases on the two pieces are small compared to their size and bulk.
Any help gratefully received.

Hi Jeanne, I've always wondered about these myself.  They come in a variety of shapes and colours.  Posibilities include Murano, Czech, Canadian or Far East.  I've seen many of these, but never one with a label.  A pic of the base may help someone to identify them, but I have a feeling we will never know for certain who made these.

Oh and a bit of useless info - these amber ones usually contain something called "Selenium", which makes the glass glow bright orange in UV light.

I never knew that!!   :thud:

I was kinda thinking Canadian here myself....but that is a guess  :huh2:

Thanks for that. I will post a pic of bases. They were donated with some other items that were definitely 1960s. The elderly person was going into residential care and was of an age where marriage would have been around 1945 to 50. So we were thinking gifts for wedding anniversaries.......................... 20th , 25th? All speculation of course.............

Thanks for the update. They have already been sold through one of shops here on the island. Will know in the future though.
