Title: small amethyst vase
Post by: ju1i3 on May 23, 2011, 03:44:30 PM
This is another piece I was thinking of selling and would appreciate any info anyone can provide. It's about 10 cm tall and has a horseshoe-shaped pontil mark on the bottom. I assume it's a pontil mark but I have never seen one of this shape. It's reasonably heavy glass. Thanks.

This looks like the same piece in blue http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300594540792?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

They're calling it a tea light holder. Any thoughts? is it that or a vase? posy? Is it Victorian as they say or newer?

thanks

I continue to see these in various colours on ebay. I can confirm they are *not* suitable as tea light holders as I tried mine with a candle and it broke.

One of these currently on ebay is described as being produced by the Elan Glass Studio.

Elan Glass Studio appears to be in Rhayader in Wales, but they don't appear to have a website. Does anyone know more about them?

Never heard of them before, next time I am in the area I will have a look.

Nancy,  it's one of the remote smileys which no longer work. Unlinked it now. I'll add a note about these later when I've done some more research.

Oh!  The perils of remote smileys!  I use them myself but from a different site. ;)
