Title: Vase with brown & pink splash of colour for id ID = Caithness
Post by: yesvil on May 26, 2011, 02:45:00 PM
Can anybody tell me who made this please?

I was thinking Caithness when I bought it, but now, I don't think so. It's 130 mm tall has a few bubbles here and there (so maybe not that well made) and has fair amount of wear on the base.

Looks spot on for Caithness also found with green and blue stripes, blue and purple and probably blue and brown too.

Thanks John - It was the bubbles that made me wonder also the ones like this I have seen don't seem to have such a thick base.

Definitely.
(I knew anyway, but, just to extra-confirm, saw examples of these in the "Loch, Heather & Peat" Exhibition in Perth a couple of weeks ago. Don't ask me the name of the design though, I've forgotten it already. :pb:)

I think, but don't quote me on this, that these ones with the very thick bases are a bit more unusual (than the run-of-the-mill posy vases I tend to see everywhere) .... if that makes any sort of sense!

Does anybody here have the book yet, to check? The designer could be confirmed.

(I've not got a copy yet - they weren't available at the Exhibition - which I thought was just a little remiss!)
