Hi Ray

It could, but my money (in large amounts) would be on Chinese or Czech.

well it's arrived , now i'm 99% sure it's a ysart weight but still i could be wrong, it's a large lump of 4.25" across and 2.5" high, the glass has a dark tinge to it also has 20 radial powder glass spray pattern, the same amount in other ysart weights.. this is what got me niggling when i 1st seen it on ebay....  the lampwork which could of been better looks like there was two flowers which have been squashed into one with 3 outer leaves and a central complex cane, sat in the very centre is a daisy cane, the pontil has been ground and quite tidy

Ok, I'll stick my neck out and say this is by Salvador Ysart.

The base shows some signs of "typical" finishing seen on other work by Salvador. The "powdery filigree" (for want of a better description) is also known in some other items that are most likley by Salvador. The central cane certainly appears to be an early "Ysart" one.

And I know of a Pansy weight that has features tying in with work by Salvador and it has a rather squashed looking flower with a central millefiori cane, three green leaves and a green stem, all of which are not of the best visual quality.

I also know of an unusual closepack weight with definite Ysart canes and an applied clear vase element having a 20-rib double-twist "powdery filigree" design. Under UV it ties in with Ysart Brothers or earlier periods and therefore most likely by Salvador Ysart!

But I won't say Ray's weight, or the Pansy weight, or the closepack with vase section, are pre-war or post-war as I really don't know.

The Pansy weight shown on page 28 of Bob Hall's book is a Paul Ysart piece.
