Forgive the poor quality of the photographs, but I couldn't wait to post my latest (and greatest!) addition to my Czech glass collection: A Miroslav Kubinec 'Akty' vase for Hermanova, 1981, pattern number 20339.
It's a gorgeous piece made from a three-part mould. One side has got stylized flowers, while the other two bear the image of a nude female. One is in the standing position, holding her hands below her breasts. The other is in the kneeling position (side view) with one arm in the air.
The vase weighs 2579g and is 28,5cm high. It reflects light beautifully!
I'm terribly excited about this piece. Kubinec was (possibly still is) a genius. ;D

I just wanted to add that my husband has found one more nude... on the side which I said only has stylized flowers. At the very top of the vase, there is a figure of a woman, lying on her side, her body going through two of the 'panels'.
I'm fascinated... and in 7th heaven.

OMG, Anik. I think I'll never again open any of your threads.
Sorry... :spls2: isn't it strange - I haven't found any Czech items myself for ages.... :-\ I'll get tired of congratulating others. :huh2:

Thank you for the kind comments... my heart is even happier. :kissy:
px, to be fair, I didn't really find the vase here... I won it on Czech Aukro. (But I am very sorry to hear that you've been going through a dry spell when it comes to Czech glass. I'd also be terribly annoyed. :spls:)
The vase really is the most beautiful Czech piece I've got. I'd even choose it over my Matura head jardiniere. I don't understand why so little is known about Kubinec, and why so little is said about his designs. This piece is absolutely brilliant, to say the least. Here are some slightly better photographs of the vase, including a close up of the reclining figure.

Congratulations on your find Anik - quite surprising how appealing clear glass can be - and this looks so tactile - well done. :)

Well Done Anik.
Its a beautiful piece and would fit in well at my place
Figural glass pieces -especially nudes-are my favourite!
