Title: Smokey brown decanter; Scandi? German? ...?
Post by: rocco on June 09, 2011, 02:06:03 PM
And one more fleamarket find I cannot ID...

Smokey brown decanter with cork stopper, height appr. 21 cm, smooth slightly indented base.
I guess these were quite popular in the 1960s/70s and produced in many places...

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Michael

never seen one with a cork stopper like that - usually it is teak/cork. And sleek design like that has to be Danish (Dansk) or German...

Thank you very much, Ivo!

May well be that the stopper is not original...
And you are right -- it has a Gulvase-ish rim, so Danish sounds quite right :)

Bought the matching shot glasses to my decanter today ;D
(Same fleamarket, same seller -- I seem to have overlooked those last week).

Similar indented base as the decanter, thickness of glass varies quite significantly...

I just do fear that this will not help in identification, but I wanted to show the complete ensemble!

Thanks,
Michael

Thanks for the nice comments!

When I bought the decanter last week the seller had already started to pack his things away -- so I paid my 2 Euro and didn't look much further...
You can be sure I was very happy today when I discovered the matching glasses :)
