Any help in identifying this would be appreciated.
-
Are you having us on or is the glass maker? Stem and vase do not match in style, it maybe glued together.
-
I agree... certainly a marriage of some sort...... and a bad one at that......
I do not want to believe that anyone that could produce glass would have such bad taste.....
Sorry,
Craig
-
No its definately all original no joins. It may look ugly in the photo but its quite stuuning to look at in sunlight.
-
Sorry, but it definitely has to be joined somehow... the glass is two different colors and styles....... The top piece is a mold blown piece of glass with the surface pattern and would have had to be joined to the bottom piece at some point...... The lower portion of the green piece was obviously designed to sit flat on a surface, and not sit on a stem........
I still think a marriage for sure.....

Can we see the point where the two colours of glass meet from the side.
-
The "stem" seems to be a 20th century (I think) drinking glass with airtwist decoration - probably with most of the bowl broken at the top and then ground down before being fitted, in whatever way, to the green vase.
-
hi pics as requested
-
Looks glued on to me.
-
Ground down and glued on, and the only question that remains is why in God's name... :) No offence, but my goodness....
-
Now it would have been a real offence if it had been a real air-twist stem - thankfully, it's not - just another look-alike-from-a-distance moulded thing.
-
My objection is purely aesthetic... ;)
-
I guess that could be called a marriage of the old and the new! It is incredibly hideous but I have such bizarre taste and can quite see why you like it. Hideous can be pleasing at times. Now if some could ID the top part....
-
I have seen very similar pieces with "Made in Italy" stickers
-
Hey hold on i never said i liked it, i dont just wondered what on earth it was Thankyou everyone whose looked anyway
-
sorry that your piece meets with such unanimous disapproval - it cannot be easy reading. Hope your next ID makes everyone :hiclp: :hiclp: :hiclp: :hiclp:

... unanimous disapproval ...
Not quite I dissented :srn: I find it fun. Next I want to see a fake w/f brick vase mounted onto a pair fake Irish 18th C Air twists. :ooh:

I took the statement....
It may look ugly in the photo but its quite stuuning to look at in sunlight.
as an indication of approval.......
Maybe I misread it..... :kissy:

:o Somebody, somewhere, is actually putting these things together!
-
I would have thought the one in the link was from Empoli - and it looks at least mould-blown?
