Title: Perthshire 1985 Smithsonian Paperweight
Post by: paperweights on June 18, 2011, 08:59:33 PM
Can anyone confirm that this is the Perthshire special edition Smithsonian paperweight?  I got it with a Smithsonian certificate, but it does not match the paperweight shown in the Complete Guide to Perthshire Paperweights.  At first I thought certificate belonged to a different weight, but I can't find this pattern anywhere in the Perthshire book.  It is a large weight, just under 3" in diameter and is signed on the bottom "P 1985".  So which PP is it?

Hi,

It may not be a PP weight. According to John Simmonds, Perthshire did a number of limited editions for specific shops/outlets (in his book, he shows a limited edition teddy bear weight made for Harrods). This could be one such edition. Often these 'rogue' editions are not recorded anywhere.

Personally, I cannot remember seeing your weight before, but others on this board may have. It is very pretty anyway.
