When I bought this I was told it was Dutch? but I'm not entirely sure of that, perhaps the seller bought it in Holland?
Anyway, I haven't got a clue how old or even what it was made for apart from that it is a bowl with seams and an applied curly handle. Is it old? What is it? It measures 13cm wide by 7,25cm high. The glass appears to have pale brown streaks in it as well as having a yellow tinge. It seems crude glass but quite nicely made for the manner it was made if you see what I mean.
Help or ideas on age etc, much appreciated as I doubt a maker would be known really.
Many thanks

Have you checked it for uranium?

yes but no but ;D it does have a yellow glow but not uranium. I think it's like a slightly yellower version of old pyrex...but has these faint brown swirls in it, so maybe a watered down bottle glass or something?

not another spitoon perhaps :)

eek, is it? I don't like things like that Paul.... but thanks, I shall off to have a gander now.

Very undutch indeed - maybe look at Spanish recycled, Altare, Parma or Empoli, or Portugal. It is not old, and it is not a spittoon.

thanks Ivo - so I can safely stick my pot of basil in it now ;D
I'll have a look round.
