...but I can' get any further than that. It's 25cm high and is what I can only describe as orange flecks / streaks (hope this comes through in the pics). If I'm honest, I was a little disappointed with the colour when it arrived as it looked like a vivid orange in the picture that prompted me to buy it for my lounge. I do love the shape though and the colour is growing on me. Any thoughts or ideas on maker / era would be gratefully received to help me fall more in love with it. Thanks for your help.

It looks vaguely 1960's-70's Czech to me. Here's a piece that "Flying Free" recently pointed out to me, for example.

Hi, is the way the colour is streaked evenly done all over? or is it in swathes or swooshes of streaks some more dense than others? Not that that helps either way as I still wont know, but I'm just curious. I quite like it and just wanted to say that if you light it with a light pointing at it rather than over it,it may display as more opaque uniform orange to the seeing eye.
David its difficult to tell but it looks more lighter weight than the vase you linked to if you see what I mean? and btw I LOVE that vase you linked to.... I love Frantisek Koudelka's designs, they are one of my top faves I think.

Thanks so much for the responses and the tip on how to display it - I'll give that a try. The colour is streaked evenly all over and it is a more lightweight glass than you'd expect from a czech piece, but still with a quality feel and some weight to it. The bottom is quite thick (1cm). The person I bought it from said that her parents used to bring back glass from their travels in the 60's and 70's and that it could be from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland or maybe Italy but I would trust your better judgement a little more maybe. Anyway, the mystery continues...

I still think the vase is Polish. This type of 'streaking', the colour and shape were common to the designs of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Here are some photos which I think show a variation on a theme, all photographed from Stanisław Dawski's Szkło Wrocławskie (1970).

I'd recognize it if I saw it. I have an 'Asteroid' vase by Jan Drost (wonderful) and some Krosno glass that my uncle then engraved and that's it.
Have a look at the CGR, 1972/2 to see some similar Czech stuff.
