I think JP knows quite a lot about Webb´s bronze. How can we draw his attention?
Is it too late to add something titillating to the subject line? ;D :ooh:
-
Good idea Dirk, hope he sees this ;D ;D
-
JP does not require titillation via subject lines :)
Just send him an email via the email icon in any of his posts.

I have not been titillated for a while, i do feel it could be bronze glass but there were several firms that made it as well as Webb i have seen some on blue some on red but the definate webb ones i have had were on green , it will also be very heavy for its size if it is bronze glass , Nigel knows quite a bit about bronze glass but is a bit tetchy lately not sure if its IBS PMT or just old age ;) . :hi: see you at the Cambridge glass fair in September Nigel . Back to the subject yes by the picture my first thought was bronze glass , take to Cambridge if poss . :pb: google webb bronze glass and look under thistlewood page and others , :t:

Thanks JP,will do some more research,I'm afraid Cambridge is a bit awkward for me to get to,maybe I can get to the next one at the motorcycle museum, when is that? ;D ;D

for the next, and future, Motorcycle Museum Glass fair dates.
Well, that's the simple bit out of the way :)
My rule of thumb was always that the base colour should be green. That is to say when you look through the vessel and see the light shining through. JP is of course right, there are a number of other makers of similar types of glass to Webb's bronze ware.

Thanks Nigel,so probably Bohemian,a good well finished piece and heavy for it's size, very cheap also, will have to be more observant in the future ::) ;D ;D
-
It does not have to be Bohemian Keith other UK firms made bronze glass including Richardsons , one i sold had a dark red under glass and was identical to a Webb pattern , a collector of mainly Webb bronze glass bought it ? JP  :-\

Thanks JP,I've just been reading about the trouble between Webb and Richardsons in regards to who first came up with the idea for bronze glass,it's a piece of cameo I really want but they are even more out of my price range  ;D ;D
