The originals have a more "organic" design while yours are bit more "static".

Look at the transition between the stem and rings.

I see that now with the stem & rings, mine are more straight & uniformed.
That you,it took me awhile of going back & fourth to see it,cheers

Best Regards

Don't be upset kitty-kat....keep them and buy the real thing so you can compare them and really learn the difference by handling them and looking at them side by side. Glass 'mistakes' can be a really wonderful way of learning.

The real thing have TS hand signed on the base, and are the most amazingly sparkly glass.
My Scandi friend put a full set (they come in several different sizes) on the dining table at Christmas with white and red ball candles in them.....amazingly beautiful.  She was staggered when I was able to say "Oh, I see you have a set of Festivo candle holders designed by Timo Sarpaneva, how lovely!"
Yours will still look lovely with candles in, so use them and enjoy them,  then sell them on.

 :kissy: Thanks Rosieposie  :hiclp:.

Gee i find glass very hard unless its special & staring you in the face.
I wish there was a step by step guide for L plater on what to look for.
But its also handling a piece, abit like pottery, you know it straight away by the look & feel.

My collecting is moving all over the place, have always liked glass & collected it,mainly depression glass.
I am finding a new love for studio art pieces,as long as i dont make too many exy mistakes all will be good.

Might be time to ask about another piece.
cheers kat

Just to add that the engraved TS looks amateurish even on the real thing and would be easy to fake, so looking at the actual form of the candlestick in this case is definitely the way to go.

...and don't worry about thinking these were the real deal Kitty-Kat, they're very close to the real thing.  :kissy:

Just a note that not all of the originals are signed TS - some are completely unsigned. One way to tell - look at them from above. If the knops are more an 'eye' shape, they're more likely to be festiva. It's quite pronounced. If they're rounded at the edges, oval or completely round, they're copies. These are copies. Mum has owned Iittala all my life and these are just wrong.

Don't worry, one of my first mistakes online was to buy what looked like the real thing, only to be deceived by a very blurry photo!

I have never seen one of these labeled but I believe these may be Japanese. Just my opinion but not a confirmation.

You could list them on eBay with nice blurry photos saying:-

'My rotten photography doesn't do these gorgeous candlesticks justice...buy them now for Christmas!!'

It's free listing this weekend!! >:D
