American importers did source their own fittings as did British importers on Bohemian glass. Is a Bohemian or French source already eliminated?

ps did you see the tazza posted yesterday http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,42030.0.html

thx for your quick reply ..  :hi: don´t think its french - or bohemian either .. i just talked to Charles Hajdamach - he said : .. " It's a hard call to make about whether it is English or American, as, as you know, engravers in both countries did similar high qaulity work. As it has American silver marks I would go along with it being American and by one of the top engravers working there. Date wise, if it was English, I would have thought it was towards the end of that 1890-1900 period. I say that because from the photos, it looks as if the body has been blown into a mould to give the impression of being cut out from a solid blank. Certainly in England that was happening from that period onwards to reduce overall costs.... " so far so good .. !

Hi Thomas,

I agree with Hadjamach - hard to tell whether English or American with this sort of thing.  However, I would lean toward English because of the dragons; they weren't so popular in the US.

Can you tell whether the interior bulges out in the same place as it bulges out on the outside?  That would show the basic shape was made with a mold, probably a distorting (skeleton) mold, with movable arms.

 :hi:
One of your nicest yet, Thomas - I like dragons much, much more than flowers and/or ormalu.
