:hi: there:
I bought this yesterday. It is not an amber-ish color -- kinda an amber pinkish color?? (Not sure how to describe the color). It has like some small pulls (not pulled out big time) around the edges. It is quite large (9.5 inches wide and about 3 inches tall). It *weighs* a ton - and much heavy than you expect. The bottom does have some wear.
I dunno :ho: who the maker it -- I was thinking (maybe) Czech. I do not think Canadian as I think the pulls around the side would be bigger. I have no idea who made it -- but I am happy I found it. I quite like it !!!
Thanks for any assistance on this item!
Any ideas at all? I do not believe it is Chinese, as it seems to be a quality (heavy) piece, IMHO. The only reason *why* am thinking maybe Czech is because of the looks of these other two pieces I have -- so this is Just a Guess I could be in left field, as usual. :24:

 :chky: Thanks Anik!! :kissy:
I was hoping (and leaning) towards Czech in my Mind (and gut) -- but never sure. I tried to look for something like it on the net before I posted but did not find anything.
You know anymore info on it? Date, pattern at all ?
Thanks, for the confirmation. Glad to see I was finally *leaning* :nk: the right way.....lol....for once LOL
The second pic posted here in my post -- reminds me looking down at it -- that it looks like a Fried Egg :24: :24: :24:

Probably Jaroslav Beranek 1954 Pattern 5475. I still think your amethyst bowl-ashtray looks Skrdlovice 1950's... does it have one, two or three rest points for the cigarette(s)?

Thanks bOBA:
I'm confused -- as it does Not have any rest points on the rim (like ashtrays would have) --- so zero rest points for Cigarettes. :spls: Is that good or bad ... or a different maker then.

Rose, Robert confirmed that this bowl is Skrdlovice, J. Beranek, 1954. His question about cigarette rest points pertains to the amethyst ashtray you've got in your second link. :)

Rose you lean the right way far more often than you do the wrong way these days; stop thinking everything is Chinese and go with your guts.

Question for Bohemia buffs - are the straight underside grooves a reliable indicator of the bowl being Bohemian?
Ross

It isn't Bohemian - it is Czechoslovian I believe.
By grooves do you mean the sort of glass 'pulls' on the underside of the bowl? as I understand it these are not a reliable indicator, on their own, of pieces being from one particular country.
