Title: Apple/Fruit shaped thick art glass dish.
Post by: CultureVulture on July 29, 2011, 03:55:29 PM
The picture doesnt do the colour much justice its more of a deep turqoiuse/sea green/blue colour. Its appox 4 inches across and a small bird bath shaped pontil similar to that of sklo dishes. I think it may be pressed glass. Any ideas??

Is the bottom polished, flat, and with a little depression in the middle? If so, that's a ground out pontil mark, so blown glass. Not the norm for Murano (the ground out pontil mark) but not that unusual either.

If you look at the pics to the right of the collage, the centre of the base has a small outer ring polished flat and then the middle dips in.

Thanks for clarifying. I wanted to confirm as the pictures seemed to show something that your description contradicted (the sklo union type base). I'd say this is handblown and Murano.
