Title: Murano Red/Black/Gold Slag Covered Bowl
Post by: Ohio on August 03, 2011, 08:44:01 PM
Every now & then I run across these in ashtrays & evidently they are popular because they are always gone when I run through a week later. This one is the only non-ashtray piece I've run across & just out of curiosity I picked it up. It simply is embossed Italy on the bottom & I'm probably using the incorrect term calling it slag...its a vivid red & black with alot of gold flakes mixed in. My question is does anyone know the time frame these were produced & the possible manufacturer?  Thanks, Ken

Ken, I saw a piece of glass similar to this one on eBay and thought about how much it looked like the V Nason mid-century aventurine pieces (ashtrays, etc.). It isn't the same as them, but the pattern has the same spirit.

Thanks Anita. I followed your suggestion & the V. Nason examples certainly strongly resembles what I have. Ken
