Title: Are these Murano? Whitefriars? Scandinavian
Post by: ahremck on August 09, 2011, 03:51:40 AM
As some of you can tell I am reviewing my stored "Murano" glass - and being very suspicious that quite a lot is not actually Murano.  I have a pair of these vases - initial attribution is Murano BUT the red is very intense so I wondered about other possible locations.  Base is not marked but the grinding is distinctive so perhaps someone can tell me where to look.

You can rule out Whitefriars .

I might look at America, that top looks American, but...

These are Viking glass, aren't they? Try Viking 'Epic' line vases.

Mod: On second thoughts, try googling on swung vases. I haven't found one with that trail to match yours, but they're very familiar.

Can not find a Viking vase with a trailled clear section like mine.  Most of the have a foot as well.  I can see why the swung vase top triggered the suggestion.  I have also had a good look at L.E.Smith patterns and had no luck.  Will try for other makers of swung vases.
