This is a first post; I hope I don't make a mess of it!
I bought this vase yesterday here in Sydney, Australia on a visual memory hunch.
I remembered having seen a couple of vases by Jiřina Žertová on Jindrich's site Škrdlovice - Domov 1969/5 catalogue.
The shape interested me. The vases pictured in the catalouge are slightly different shapes and are solid colours.
I was wondering if anyone can have a look and see what they think.
It has a ground pontil and stands 25 cm high and is 13 cm at the mouth.
Is this 'schaumglas'?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Very interesting first post. First of all, I looked at the catalogue in question and I'm amazed at your memory. They do look roughly the same shape, although the top of the vase is cut off in the shot of the catalogue I get.
Having said that, my first reaction was Bo Borgstrom for Aseda, although I haven't been able to find an exact match. Is it heavily cased?
I haven't seen any Skrdlovice with inclusions like that. Of course, I'd wait until the sages of Skrdlovice, Jindrich and Robert, check in with their verdict.
I think "schaumglas" is the German term for pulegoso, and as I don't see any bubbles in this piece, just inclusions, I would say no, not Schaumglas.
Nice piece, though.

Added later: The Borgstrom piece that I've found that most resemble this is on p. 54 of Smoke & Ice. It's dark gray, however, and has bubbles.

Thanks again langhaugh. The casing is not as thick on the base as the normal Åseda Bergstrom pieces that I've had a look at now, but I'd have to admit that the streaky dark blue is similar to some of the svenskt form rolled top pieces. This one has an everted rim but it's very short, unlike the Bo pieces I've seen. Many thanks for your comments, I appreciate them greatly. It's got me stumped so far.

I'm moving away from Bo on this one having had a little look around. The pieces I was thinking about are near the beginning of this listing.

My first reaction to seeing the pic was 'Sweden' - but not Aseda. I just cannot remember which one - could it be Jofors?

This is Orrefors piece has a similar colouring.....

Thanks to both Ivo and Greg for their help on this vase. My apologies for my tardy reply & thanks.
And to David (laughaugh) thanks again, but ....

has led me to a brick wall and went nowhere.

Many thanks Ivo.
I've been searching this afternoon through the Jofors idea and searched Orup, then to Lindshammar, Christer Sjögren, Ekenas and even Ruda.
Had a look at Greg's Orrefors unica: the blue inclusions are very similar to it.
But this Björkshult gives yet another idea, another direction.
I was wondering about a term to describe the blue in the vase: internal blue mottling?

I have found a possible source: Magnor, Norway. Perhaps Arne Lindaas.
The Björkshult idea led to me to another discussione here and mention of a site that had some Magnor pieces: http://www.wendelboe.no/index.php.
Does anyone know any more about Magnor artists other than Arne Lindaas & Eystein Sandnes who might have done these vases?
