Hello ppl i was wondering if you could help i have this signed Orrefors piece. However it doesnt have a pattern number or designer letter. Can anyone help me identify the designer and possibly what date it should be. I think it could be Ariel style. The glass is 700 gram in weight despite its size. Almost 0.75 inches thick.3.5inches tall. :) please help? Reminds me of a Chilli pepper.

Hi, is it the same as this one?

I also believe its crystal when flicked it gives a very high pitched sonorous ring lasts a second or two.
-
Very similar but not as curved or spherical more square and straight. Appears slimmer at base than rim.
-
I wondered if it might be one of the hand formed pieces rather than mould blown....in which case, might there be subtle differences between each piece? Like this one:-

Yes its similar but not blue crystal its definately clear transparent. The orrefors signature part of my pic looks blue because my cameras a bit naff and i had to use a loupe which has blue white led lights and hold it over the lens to magnify it (no mean feat). The base has alot of scratches so i wonder whether it did have an id number and letter which wore off over time. I was about an hour looking through the loupe 60x at miniscule scratches for possible codes after a while it was like seeing shapes in the clouds, so i just gave up on my imagined false leads and posted it here.

I know the colour is different....I was thinking of the shape....a Vicke Lindstrand piece I would have thought....??
I am worried about your mean feet though!! :usd:
-
This glass has a mean foot its not kind with information. Anyway on both your links the lobes turn in at the rim (like apple shaped). Mine straight at an outward angle. See my pic the top left is most accurate. The top right of the pic is misleading cause of camera angle. It could be Vicke Lindstrand on a day where his lobes didnt go over so he didnt want to sign it..erm or her lobes. :usd: :usd: :thud: :spls: :spls:

You need to have Daniel S come and solve the mystery for you. He is an Orrefors specialist and very, very helpful.

It looks like part of the Stella Polaris line, designed by Lindstrand in 1940 and produced for a number of years after that. The line came in a variety of sizes and at least a couple of different finishes.

And.... his name.......Victor Emanuel Lindstrand.......probably male.
I agree, Stella Polaris line......I like Orrefors, if I was going to collect glass vases and candle holders, it would be Orrefors.
It was deemed good enough to put the whole of the Orrefors name on and not just 'of' as in some, which makes me think it was a hand made piece.....but what do I know, I only collect glass animals and birds. :usd:

Perhaps we could see a picture of the whole of the base please?
-
Okey dokey RosiePosie shots of the base different angles, different lightsources...same naff camera..apologies best i can do.Thankyou

Don't know how you managed to upload that one....when I went to Jan's site, it was only on a side picture and when I clicked on it, it vanished, so I assumed it was sold!!
But it really was that one that made me certain....it was page 4 on Google under Stella Polaris.......I am so pleased for you, it is lovely being able to be certain you have identified something positively....well done CV! :sun:

"Found it thanks ppl its a Stella Polaris 7150."
The 7150 is Kilian's stock number. The numbers for Stella Polaris are, depending on size and finish, LU 2251 and LA 2253, usually with a slash mark and a number after the four numbers to indicate which of one the series a particular piece was. Originally, there were 6 variants of each. The piece in the linked first provided was also a Stella Polaris. Like your piece, not all of them were marked with numbers, but many were. One of Lindstrand's best designs.
