A purchase last month which I thought I had posted for ID, but turns out I had not..... I really have no idea on this piece and am looking for some help. Probably Peggy's favorite piece of late....
Very well done with good detail in the onlay....
4.5 inches tall, 4.5 in diameter at the shoulder.
No pontil and a flat polished rim...
Any Ideas.....??
TIA Craig

Its been my experience with these little satin vases that they were Rockwell overlay & were never marked with the shield & pattern number, just had the paper labels. Example of a 4" one I had that turned out to be Rockwell & I had another one that was also Rockwell. Ken

Thanks Ken, I looked at some of their work and that seems like a very likely possibility.....

the others I've noticed are Watson or Alvin or Gorham?
A different vase here but with attribution to Loetz/Alvin as a possible but not definite - and it still looks more art nouveau than art deco on the silver work :-\

My experience is that the Alvin and Gorham have much thicker silver I would refer to an overlay as opposed to onlay......
This silver work is very very thin.....
I am not familiar with Watson.....

me neither and I'm not entirely sure it is a silversmith , could be a retailer name perhaps - but I came across this when looking for Andy's art deco black vase
if you scroll down on the page there is a black vase with silver, but again I think it is overlay rather than onlay as you say

hmm, None of those suggestions seem to be very helpful or appropriate in this instance :-\
Rockwell seems to be the most available to view on the net, and I'm sure you've also seen a site by a lady called Viktoria I think, who has an amazing selection of images of silvered glass :)

That pinch decanter is interesting as I have its twin in pink with that overlay. Its Cambridge however the stopper is not original, its a replacement.
