Title: Mushroom Pink, iridescent & Label - ID = Glasform, John Ditchfield
Post by: antiquerose123 on August 19, 2011, 12:52:16 PM
 :hi: there:

Okay here is my 3rd Mushroom, and since they are not PW  :spls2:  I will post this one here.  See, you learn something New everyday  ;D

Again, this was bought by me from a Lady that lives here now (but used to live there) over-the-pond.  It is a smaller Mushroom that is Pink, and iridescent.  Really pretty.  Stem is kinda frosty.  There is a round label on the bottom that I can only make out that says ??:

English Handmade Glass _______ (at least I think that is what it says).  Any idea on the maker, or the Age?  I think she had said a JOHN D ????? somebody.  I can't remember the last name as when she verbally was telling me things and ran a name past me.....the only way I could remember it was to think of JOHN DEERE (like the tractor) so I could remember  the initials to post here.  But the maker is not John Deere  :ho: , but John D-something....I think

I still have these all filed under PW on my computer here, and rather than change the file here -- I will just leave the file as PW, even though they are not.  So just ignore my file name listed under the pic.  That is just me  :spls:

Yeah, I think that is the name she said.  Thanks Lustrousstone  :kissy: as I could not make out the rest of the words on the label.

Is it Good?  What is the Age of it?  Does it have a name of the style or anything else to its title?

I am  :X: I did alright to buy these 6 pieces of glass from her for not a bad price (maybe??)  :X:

Or me! :)

It's a Blackpool number, for which the first part should now read 01253, so it'll date the label (and hopefully the piece) to before the UK area codes had the 1 added into them...  which was on "PhONEday" i.e. 16 April 1995.

It's interesting to see this as my initial thought based on the iridescence was it might have been Heron Glass from Cumbria, but their mushrooms are slightly different in shape.

I'm glad you said that Anne, because I have never been able to tell the difference between Heron and Glasform.
I think I would need to see two pieces side by side to tell though if they didn't have labels.

With it being pink, I wouldn't have known the difference without a label. I don't think I could tell green ones apart either, but I might manage the blues.

Rosie, there's a Heron one shown in this earlier topic: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,11245.0.html and I'm attaching a small Heron colour chart picture to show what colours they did.
