First things first - welcome to this great resource. Photos will always enhance your question and generally lead to an answer quite quickly. If you read http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php?topic=42159.new;topicseen#new
you will see three excellent bits of advice about the etiquette of the board. Start with KevinH, then myself, and finally Lustrousstone.
You should also take the time to read

Hope to see a nice picture or three or four soon.

Hi there,
Indeed we could use some photos to be able to make a proper id. Are you talking about a pressed glass item with embedded sea shells? If so, French art deco comes to mind... Sabino, Verlys... possibly.
But first... show us the pictures.
