Title: holmegaard?
Post by: scavo on August 26, 2011, 10:36:30 PM
I see similar things listed as Holmegaard but no marker's marks I can see.

Mod: spelling of maker corrected to aid future searches

A couple of different views might help here. From the top and of the base would be first choices.

Holmegaard can be safely crossed off the list of possible makers.

I thought it might a Skrdlovice ashtray, but I can't see if the glass has been shaped to create a pattern in it and if the base is chamfered.  Here's one to show you you what I mean.

I thought it might a Skrdlovice ashtray, ...

It's not an ashtray ... unless it was a gift to Fidel and Che for cigar smokers conference! Maybe it was a gift from a Czech glass factory?? hahaha. It's more the size of a fruit bowl than an ashtray.

Unfortunately as I dug this photo out of my archive and the actual item is boxed up in storage. it won't be being snapped any time soon.

I got the scale wrong on that one!  Has it been worked to create a pattern in the glass (ridges or indentations on the outside of the piece).?  Skrdlovice did bowls as well.

Sorry, as I said, it's packed away. I don't want to try to describe from memory as I'll only end up getting it wrong.

Thanks to the MOD for spelling correction. No wonder I always get poor internet searches for 'holmgaard'.
