I guess new and from India, never seen the old ones with metal combined only new production. Also it would be quite remarkable to find an undamaged pair

These have been produced in India for a long time. Old ones are such as Varnish and co and are all glass

The matte design looks very late 20th/21st century. They are not a perfect pair because they are hand-blown, though into a mould. How do you know they were not made in India? The Indian glass industry is not exactly new.

Currently at the spanish/ portugese border at spitting distance from the time zone....

The article on mercury glass on the glass museum should answer most questions on older production.

And if you go into one of the many wedding shops in India you will find shelves heavily laden with this popular glass. Or you would 25 years ago at least.

Don't normally discuss values generally on the board, if you like them I suppose the value is irrelevant.

There are some 'newer' than yours on eBay, with a tatty silvering to look like tatty real mercury ones  :)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-set-3-MERCURY-GLASS-SILVER-CANDLE-HOLDER-/150555151598?pt=Candle_Holders_Accessories&hash=item230dc94cee with metal tops and bases.

While yours are much better than those I doubt they would fetch as much. There is a US book which probably covers some of the modern makers by Diane Lytwyn - Pictorial Guide to Silvered Mercury Glass: Identification & Values.
