Title: Genuine Murano?

Not so sure about this crude grinding of the base.

Also pontil looks a bit crass for Murano.

Sticker genuine?

Any comments welcome.

Hi there
they sell a lot of Murano with very rough grinding on the bases in the shop TKmaxx. Its all very low quality, churned out on the mass. Also very cheap to buy at TKmaxx for a brand new piece, ive seen them at £10 and below.
Often the bases have an ugly moulded grid pattern on the base, large imperfections or just badly finished like this one.

I've got a lovely piece of 60s/70s (probably) Mandruzzato, sommerso, long rectangular bowl with a gridded base...but it enhances the geometry rather than being ugly.   :)

Hi max,
Its not like the gridding on the Mandruzzato as you say that enhances the piece and is done well.
The gridding on the cheap TKmaxx stuff is really nasty, it generally is sharpe, uneven, very rough and looks terrible with grit and marks, it seems to serve no purpose at all as its not an optical effect.

next time i see one i will get a couple of pics, as im really not sure why the bases are like that at all.
