Title: Is this Cased Glass Vase possibly Riihimaki/Riihimaen?

Hi. Picked this up in the thrift shop. It stands 16" tall. Thank you for looking.

Hi that's a great shape.  Does the vase have a satinised stripe round the middle of it.  Looking at the pics, it looks as though it is grainy near the indent two thirds up?
I don't know if it is Riihimaen but I have a few vases in amber and this looks a lot darker than mine, but it may well just be a different colourway.  There is a great site called Designlasi, which has very many of the Riihimaen Lasi vases on it and is fun to hunt through as well, if you don't get a confirmed answer.

Design Lasi does not seem to have a vase to match yours - but http://www.20thcenturyglass.com/glass_encyclopedia/scandinavian_glass/riihimaki_glass/riihimakiglass_home.htm
does on the third row.  However, all of his items shown are 250mm = 10" tall only.  I suggest an email to him might be a good move.

Hi, interesting, but have never seen one like that.
The one ahremck refers to on 20thcenturyglass site is number 1479 which has often been attributed to Aimo Okkolin, I suppose, simply because its shape resembles the one of a known Okkolin design called Stromboli. I do not know if there is any official proof of it being more than just one of the large number of export vases from Riihimäen Lasi having been sold as unattributed.

I personally would not bet for the resemblance between that known Riihimäen export design and the one of this thread. Looking closer at the lower part the shape is different, the possible satin part which is unknown to RL designs and not the least, the huge size!

Thank you all very much for looking and contributing your knowledge. It does have a frosted satin finish around the waist - I should have mentioned that.
I do see what you are saying regarding the differences PX in #1479. Ahremck, you suggest I email him, would that be the designer himself or to the Web site ? I am sorry, as much as I love Scandinavian glass, my knowledge is limited. Are the designers open to email questions (if that is what you meant)? Thanks again to all of you for your help.

Hi
I can say, with some certainty, your vase isn't Riihimaen. But am not sure who might have made it.

I'm sure I've seen this vase before in blueish-green with a label identifying it as 'made in Poland' - this is only from memory so it could well have been a slightly different shape but it definitely had the satin finish in the same area.

Hope this helps, Charlene

Yes, LSA or Krosno seem likely candidates.
