Title: Amber glass penguin

Hi all and hope you are well!?

I have been given this by my father in law to identify. He was told it was Whitefriars but we don't think so. Our feelings are Mdina or Mtarfa. As we were told Whitefriars thought I would start here.

Any info is much appreciated.

Hi Chrisffc,  well he is a cutie, but not Whitefriars.  Also, ti help rule out some others,  not Wedgwood, nor Langha.  These are the ones I can be certain about.
It probably isn't that much help,  but at least ruling some makers out is a start.
The base may be a big clue to some others.....I thought at first maybe Chris Dodds of Tweedsmuir glass, and if you can give a very clear enlarged picture of the base, I may be able to help a bit more.

Thanks for the info!

I agree totally. I was thinking along the Tweedsmuir lines myself but was unsure. Will have a look around the net for them.

I will try and get a better base picture up tomorrow when the light is better. Hopefully that will shed even more light on the possible source. (sorry no pun intended)

Did you ever manage to get a picture of the base chrisffc?

I have, since this thread started,  found out that there are a few Scandinavian Glass Studios making birds and animals with this type of base.

Do not discard Poland, the largest producer of figurines. Also, a penguin is made in a minute and a half at the oven so it is a popular product, commercially speaking.
The options are and remain open.
