Hello
I have just aquired this lovely S.Reich bowl in a beautiful opalescent glass.
I personally think Reich did some lovely pieces in this colour!
Thanks for looking Nige

Ooohh Nige, that is seriously gorgeous!

Hi
Anne it is gorgeous isn't it....I really do like their range of opalescent glass it has that thick hue to it.I also recently purchased a lovley opalescent vase again by Reich.I have the lady in bowl in opalescent and unfortunately I did buy the angel bowl in opalescent from the States but the seller wrapped it in one layer of bubblewrap and 3 screwd up bits of newspaper and it arrived in pieces! I was so disappointed.
Would love to find some more of their glass as I think it is still to be found.

Mmmmm just yummy!
The flowers on the vase remind me of Jayne's lovely pink frosted trinket set - my gut feel when I saw it was "could it be Reich?" but it's a pattern I've not met before... http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,43166.0.html - what do you think Nige - is it one you've seen before?
-
Hi Anne
I agrre with what you say about similarities between the 2.I myself used to have this set in clear blue and I must admit it is a gorgeous set even better in frosted glass as the detailing is seen more.
I looked through my catalogue of Reich 1934 but it doesn't seem to be in it.The vase and the bowl are both in this catalogue aswell as some interesting pieces I have never seen in the flesh including a dancing ladies vase!

The glass is just glorious :sun:
- but surely the bowl you show can't have anything to do with angels?
The feet things are more like evil gargoyles wearing nappies...... while I often like the macabre, these are the stuff of nightmares!
-
Hi
No you are right these are like dwarves or elves...the angle I mentioned is another bowl that Reich did with angels on either end.
Like the amber one in the photo.I bought the same bowl in opalescent glass but unfortunately the seller didn't pack well so it arrived smashed to pieces!
-
Whew! (about your poison dwarves not being angels)
but what a disaster with your broken angels - it would have been utterly fabulous.

Wonderful, Nige! A real favourite of my collection - here's the shiny amber and both matt and shiny clear white:
amber (http://pressglas-pavillon.de/schalen/06703.html)
white (http://pressglas-pavillon.de/schalen/08172.html)
a quite good picture of the dwarf:

Hello Pamela
Looks gorgeous in amber! I have had this bowl in various colours.......I must admit it is lovely in this opalescent.
Reich did some lovely pieces didn't they.I still think that the centrepiece with the miners/gnomes on could be Reich as I have seen a photo of it again in opalescent.
Thanks for the pics Pamela they look great!

Thank-you very much Pamela :-*
The dwarves only look evil in opalescent glass. >:D
In amber and white they look much more noble and serene.

You should have seen them when I had the bowl in frosted green glass! :help:

:24:
I can imagine!!!
It's absolutely fascinating how the glass itself alters how the art of the design is percieved, isn't it? :sm: :sun: :sm:
