Hi,
This is not FM Konstglas/Marcolin.
-
thanks
inca no ideas who it might be or is it just chinese look a like
-
Mod: This thread is moved to here from Paperweights for further thoughts.

I've seen something similar to this effect advertised as Cello glass? does that sound right?
Might be worth looking into perhaps, just an idea.

That's interesting, Cello glass, I googled and found some pictures here: http://xystos.co.uk/Cello
Could it be from China
-
I've seen many of them being sold on ebay as Cello, but I've never thought to check to try and read a label. I just assumed they were made in China.
edited: On previous threads it was thought Cello was an Indian maker that possibly went out of business in 2006 if I read correctly.
Stu is the base of yours unpolished? It looks like its ground but not polished clear?

Some of you may remember I had a blue bird with this quilted effect inside, and I thought it might be Marcolin, but now I am not certain......the base was quite well polished, but not as well as my signed Marcolin and FM Konstglas pieces.
I have sold it now, but these are pictures I have of it, and I have seen others listed on eBay, very similar, that were sold as Cello.
I hope this helps a little.

Stew, I forgot to mention that FM Konstglas always has a polished base. V. Nason and Formia also has a polished base. The base on your duck looks unpolished.
Cello might be the answer here. It was indeed interesting to learn about Cello. I looked on eBay and found several listings there. Some time ago I saw a cat being sold as FM Konstglas, but it wasn't FM. I didn't know at the time who had made it, but now I suspect that it might have been Cello.

I have a Chinese made cat somewhere that looks like FM Konstglass - I think I gave it to my daughter. It came in the original packaging (no names or labels of course). Will have to dig it out for a photograph.

I have a small but to me, very precious collection of Marcolin / FM Konstglas/ V.Nason glass.
I sold the blue bird because I perceived it as an 'Intruder' in the collection. But as often is the case, I now have 'sellers remorse', because on reflection, it was a very pretty bird.
It showed a level of artistry and production technique that should have been appreciated for what it is and not what it was thought to be!!
I am questioning my own values more and more these days, and am trying to collect what pleases me as much as what is considered valuable.
Your little duck looks like quite a cutie Stew, and even though the base may not be polished, if you like it, well, the base won't show on display.

thanks all
yes its still a nice weight. can people stop pulling labels off so i know who makes what lol ;D

I saw a couple of elephants in TK Maxx on Saturday that were made with the same technique as the original duck in this thread and the very same colour too. The 'quilting' and the bubbles do not look as precise as those in items made by FM Konstglass. I peeled of the price labels but underneath was just another barcode with no country of origin marked.
