Hi ,
Having just posted in the cafe, which has no facility for photos ,I thought I would show the glass being referred to here , it's 7 inches tall
Enjoy,
cheers ,
Peter.

That is so-ooooo elegant - it must fit in the hand perfectly - I take it's a white wine glass?
(I'm a bit ignorant, but it looks as if it's designed to minimise hot finger contact with the body - the major support part of the glass, when held, would be the lovely knop.)
Not that it wouldn't look glorious with red wine inside it too, and the hand could easily fit around the main body to impart some warmth if desired.
Thanks Peter - I've never seen a glass like this before. I'd very happily serve Michael his wine in it.

Hi ,
it's assumed that glasses of this size in the late 17thc were for ale/beer , and history suggest that glasses at this time were held by the foot ,as in many contemporary illustrations. and yes it is a great 1 to use .
off North now , to tickle a trout or 2 , in sunny Perthshire.
cheers ,
Peter
