Title: Who might have made it?
Post by: ahremck on October 07, 2011, 08:45:46 AM
Found a pair of these crackle vases recently - in an op-shop.  The smaller one was significantly damaged so I let it go.

I wondered if you might like the challenge of figuring out the maker out the maker(I do know who made it, it has a label).

Had me completely fooled when I first saw it.

Well it sort of yells Germany to me, but that would a bit obvious, so it's probably not... Would look good between my German vases, though. Nice design.

My first impression was Finnish - I expected to find a TW or TS on the base.

We were both wrong.

Well, Cathy was closest - as well she ought to be she lives closest to where it would have been made.

It is in fact Leonora Glass - hand made from Wallsend, near Newcastle, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA ! ;D >:D :smg:

What an unexpected find - I was flabbergasted.

 Oh, it's Leonora! I wondered whether it was late Crown actually, but then thought that was silly... I've got two pieces of Leonora - one is an amber bowl blown into a beaten copper sleeve with holes in it, and all I can remember of the other is that it's blue - they're all in storage at present.
