Got this today at an oppie. The top is a long pyramid shape with a chunky pattern cit out of one edge. I then comes to a frosted glass stopper and then a small drop
The bottom has 14 faces with a partially frosted clear inner hole. Its stands 23cm high. there are no markings but there is a sticker of yellow and white foil that says "superior quality hand cut"

Please excuse the hideous typing and spelling. :spls:

With the pagoda engraved in the stopper it would be easy to conclude that this one is from the far east. I have seen similar style paperweights made in China - featuring the Eiffel tower no less so I guess China is your answer. To which I may add, these perfume bottles are exremely clever in design and vicious as a weapon. Take care

The old-fashioned label might indicate it was 50s/60s/70s though. Perhaps Czech is another option as it has vague similarities to http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,42154.0.html

Christine gets there first ;) almost certainly the same source but dating of label is interesting as the one in that thread is very recent so perhaps these have been in production for a long time.

there is a contrariness with the design the piece itself as a bottom and stopper and the sticker. which is the reason I bought it and there is a different number of facets to the stopper and base.
-
Is it lilac, possibly neodymium glass, or is it just picking up a reflected colour?
-
Hi Anne its clear glass. I think it picked up the tinge from my desk. Lee

Thanks Lee, I was thinking it looked quite nice in lilac too! :)

And a different base shape too.

True and no sticker .hurrumph. So I dont know if this makes it clearer or muddier.

Probably ignore that seller ... doesn't look as if they're speaking with any authority. Just describing what they see?

True. I was going to email them and ask them for a reference point but I think it would be a waste. i think it can just sit on my book case and look interesting.

:hi: Hi! It's very pretty in its own right but it would be more of a buzz for you to have a correct attribution. I'm sorry I'm such an ignoramus and can't be more help. Do enjoy it, that's what counts. :sun:

???
Just my 2 cents worth.
I had posted a Perfume bottle a while ago. The *label* style on mine is the exact same as the one posted here. Mine is also yellow/gold foil label -- BUT mine says "HAND CUT- HAND POLISHED"
To see the link GMB Post of Mine (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,38688.0.html). So not sure if that helps any......but worth the view I guess...
I never got any answers there :thud:
