:hi:
I got this large vase today at an Auction. No Glow.....but does have a removable green glass Frog inside it. Looks Art Deco to me and looks like there are 2 Mermaids on the sides. I thought they were just ladies, but then I noticed they have *fish tales*. (http://serve.mysmiley.net/animals/animal0028.gif) Size is about 8 inches tall. The top opening is 10 inches by 7 inches wide. Wear on the bottom.
Any ideas on age, or maker ??
Thanks as always :kissy:

I don't know Rose but that is gorgeous :hiclp: :hiclp:
I'll have a search around, but I'm sure someone will come along very quickly and be able to say what it is :)

Boy that was Quick!! Your Good !!!
I saw it at the Auction and wanted it. I thought it would Glow, but it does not. I paid a bit more than I wanted to, but then I wanted some Art Deco items here...and 1934 that is old. Did Wayne's have a frog in them too? So then it is my first piece of Walther and Sohne!! According to his site it is called *Windsor*.
Boy, you guys are have such a vast knowledge.....and so Quick!!
Thanks a Zillion (http://serve.mysmiley.net/jumping/jumping0045.gif) for the speedy reply!!

At least they have *some* clothing on...lol. Yes big vase. The opening lip width is wider than the vase is tall. I was now looking around the net with the info you gave for the maker to see if there are ones that Glow. I found the same mermaids by the same company (in a clock) and that one glows. I really thought this would glow.......
(http://serve.mysmiley.net/winking/winking0023.gif) Assumed wrong again!!

You can see the catalogue image of your vase in pressglas-korrespondenz. See here (http://www.pressglas-korrespondenz.de/aktuelles/pdf/pk-2002-3-2-mb-walther-1936.pdf) 8th page from the end.

The design is 1935ish but they were made for quite a long time and the newer ones don't glow. Here are Pamela's; I'm pretty sure hers is uranium.
Here is a catalogue page from 1952/3 showing your vase. VEB Saschenglas is what Walther became after the war. Yours is likely from them.

And also in the 1965 VEB catalogue from Pamela's glas-musterbuch site: http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/VEB-Sachsenglas-1965.73.0.html

And this half-asleep author forgot the link to the 1953 catalogue (http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Sachsenglas-1953.212+B6YmFja1BJRD0yMTImcHJvZHVjdElEPTg4OTMmcGlkX3Byb2R1Y3Q9MjEyJmRldGFpbD0_.0.html)

Sold pristine one in pink and VERY disappointed with the price achieved. Had to drop price to get interest. Must have listed not nearly as well as I should have done. Posted it off with a very bad grace (buyer doesn't know - they were over the moon unsurprisingly!). Lesson learned but not quite sure what! (Still; fattish profit made so shouldn't grumble ...... changed mind, going to .... :grrr: :grrr: :grrr:).

For what its worth I had the same situation with a nice one in blue & it was an older one with a ground & polished base as I was informed the later ones did not have the flat ground base. Looks like a million bucks Deco, but interest for some strange reason isn't there...probably because they were reissued later on. Ken

I sold a blue one too. I still regret selling it, I wish I'd kept it. Nice find Rose.

Ooooops, guess I should post a bottom pic here.....if that makes any difference
(whoops......I do not have one) will take one today. Thought I had one....will do later.
Also will take a pic of the frog inside it as I assume that is the correct one for it?? It has some damage to it, but the vase is A-1 Okay!

Not sure about that logic as most of the Walther pieces were reissued and yet a lot of them consistently fetch very high prices. Personally this is one of my favourite Walther pieces but I don't own one (yet).

The oval 'frog' for this vase is the same one as for the Schmetterling and the Greta vases. They are generally a 'good enough' fit, so I have no doubt yours is right :)
It's a beauty! Well done! :hiclp:

Well it just might be a U.S. deal because Deco glass (non-lamp) is just so-so over here. Now Deco metal and/or glass lamps is another story entirely in the U.S. as they are in high demand & are relatively numerous. Frankart, NuArt & just about any older Deco lamp move very well. Ken
