50p from the RSPCA shop,a good find if I say so myself ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
A very pleasant surprise. The design on each tray, dish and bowl still captures my imagination with its contemporary feel.
-
I still haven't found any...
-
 Me neither!

That's lovely Keith, is it Chance Glass perchance? I've never seen this sort of pattern and it is lovely....and what a beautiful way to display it.
Can you tell me who made it and what the pattern set is called please, as I don't know a great deal about glass plates and tableware.....being an animal collector. Although having seen the Afors glass, I think I might be getting hooked on other pieces!! :usd:
-
c'mon Rosie - you obviously haven't been following the script ;D - this is one of Keith's big things - although must admit he does manage to work the factory name in somewhere, usually ;D
-
:pb: I really really don't know Paul....sorry?
-
Tsk. I've never even seen one of these in real life, let alone buy one for 50p! Grrr! ;)
-
I'm not being serious Rosie :hi: I smile often - people seem to make more puns using this factory name than any other. Personally, I wouldn't take that sort of chance. ;)
But their output was one of those factories that I gave up when I had to streamline my collecting - I must have seen thousands of other patterns over just a few years - although like others here, this was one I never did see. But I did find five Historic Balloons dishes (which now lay unseen in the shed. ::)

Thanks all,
Rosie; All the puns re Chance glass have been done, designed in 1958 by Lady Casson, very rare, might have been 'made' by my Grandpa or his brother,I never found out what they did there ::) ;D ;D,my second piece by the way :o
-
Well. I would like a Helennic giraffe carafe, so perchance you see one, let me know ;D....in the meantime....'Bon Chance'!!
See, I have been doing my homework, and I was right and I would never have thought you were serious Paul!.....Keith don't you think considering I don't even collect this, it was a pretty good deduction!!?
Ooops, we crossed Kieth!! Your Grandad might have made this....that is awesome! Wow!!
-
Rosie, I have a calypto and a hellenic and a swirl but not the night sky pattern yet - still looking for that one! The hellenic one doesn't have those great figures on it - it's just all over vine leaves - mine has a very tiny damage on the lip but for £1 it was worth picking up for its display value. :).
I also have a calypto lemonade jug which is a seriously weighty thing! And tons of calypto drinking glasses of various shapes, in fact I have enough calypto to set a whole table with - plates, bowls, glasses, jugs and serving dishes, candlesticks and more!!! I keep saying I'll have to dig it all out of the boxes and do a table setting and take pics! :smg:
Keith, I'd not realised that your grandpa and his brother were Chance workers.... now I understand your fascination with Chance even more! :kissy:

quote from Rosie.........."Keith don't you think considering I don't even collect this, it was a pretty good deduction!!?".............yeah, but i reckons your only sayin this now to extreekate yoursewf" >:D >:D

I had an almost complete Hellenic dinner service. I sold it with all the shed contents when I moved last year. I just had too much to take with me..probably sold it for about £6.
