Title: Etched Amber Glass Shaker ID
Post by: Marie Chauvin on October 19, 2011, 01:40:26 PM
Hi
I was hoping that someone can identify this shaker.   It's made of amber glass with etched hunt scenes with a deer and rabbit and also what looks like turrets.  I've attached pics.  Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks
Marie

Marie, I wonder if Egermann is a possibility?

The technique is amber stain cut-to-clear which is an Egermann technique from the 1820s still produced today. The pagoda could be the Chinesischer Turm (built 1790) in the Englischer Garten in Munich - or it could be just fantasy. In any case it seems early 20th (19th ct. shakers I don't think so) possibly from the 1920s. Any metal stamps in the lid?

Hi
Thanks you both for responding and your info.  I will start researching Egermann since both of you feel that it may be the maker.  I checked the lid for marks and there were none.
