Out to dinner last night. Our elderly host had a pair of decanters that belonged to his grandparents and are - by his recollection - probably 19th C
They are about 35 cm tall, with the rims drawn out into flouncy (technical term?) pouring lips, and the stoppers are matched and numbered. The bases have large, circular, ground-out punty scars.
They are faceted all round and top to bottom (11 facets to each). They are the survivors of a set of three. The one that got broken - decades ago - was "yellow". The survivors are purple and teal.
My guess is Venetian, c 1880. Anyone have any better ideas?
Apologies for the photo quality.
Thanks,
Chris

Thanks Andy. I've been starting to think that myself.
I saw a pic of some Moser pieces that are quite reminiscent, in terms of both colour and design.
However Moser only started using colour from 1909 onwards, so that would knock the 19th C story on the head. Another family's myths bite the dust!
